Rainbow Valley
Today was our last day's leave from work before Christmas, and we walked around Ladybower. The plan was to walk Last Lad, but I missed the footpath we'd planned to walk, and took an alternative path up Howden Clough.
The first part of the climb is easy and pleasent walking a little about the stream. However, once out on the open moorland, the path becomes faint, and requires some heather bashing.
The alernative should have taken us up onto Margery Hill and then back down Little Cut to Slippery Stones. However, our difficulties on the path coupled with increasing rain persuaded us to turn back.
Just before we did the u-turn, this aamzing view with rainbox appeared towards Ladybower. I hate photographing in the rain, primarily with concerns about having to keep the lens dry for decent shots. Thus, I quickly took my camera out, put on the lens hood, turned around and took this one handheld shot.
It came out pretty well. As for editing, I've simply applied a couple of gradient filters and applied contast and clarity.
On our return home, we stopped at Outside in Hatherssage for Cheryl to try on walking boots.
